Tips For
Selecting Fireplace Tools
When
you have a fireplace, the first thing you should do is to make sure
you have a good set of fireplace tools.
Even if you
only use the fireplace as part of your décor, a
fireplace tool set will add to the charm and
atmosphere of your home. The following are some
tips to help you find the right fireplace tool
set for your hearth.
The first thing you’ll want to do is to take a
good look at your fireplace. Is it brand new and
not really used? Or is it an antique fireplace
that looks like it has seen better days. The key
is to match your fireplace tool set to the look
of your fireplace. If you have a brand new
fireplace and put a set of chewed up fireplace
tools on the hearth, they will stand out as an
unattractive accessory. On the other hand, if
you have an old fireplace, they’ll match
perfectly.
When you purchase your tools, try to find them
with a holding rack. If, however, you love the
tools and there is no rack, look elsewhere to
find one that will go along with it. However, if
you purchase your tools outside of a set with
rack, make sure you purchase the tools that go
together and are made from the same material. A
matching set of fireplace tools looks much
better as a piece of your décor that a mixture
simply thrown together.
If you are confused about what style you should
get, a simple, less detailed one or one with
more elaborate details, think of they décor in
the room where the fireplace is. Generally,
however, a more simple design is one that will
work with almost any décor.
Most fireplace tools are very similar in size.
Vintage fireplace tools are larger and are for
the larger fireplaces of the 18th and 19th
centuries. However, as a rule, your fireplace
tools should be approximately 6 or 7 inches
longer than the depth of your fireplace. If
they’re any larger than this, you won’t be able
to use it as it as well.
When it comes to the price of your fireplace
tool set, it will depend upon the material.
Brass tends to be the most expensive as they
have a higher decorative value. However, keep
within the budget you’ve allowed and choose one
that will match the décor in your home.
