Handy Fireplace
Tools to Have
There
are so many fireplace tools to choose from that it can be hard to
stick with your budget.
It was really
the first thing you noticed about your new
apartment. You had always wanted a fireplace,
often dreaming of what it would be like to sit
in front of a gently-burning fire, relaxing with
a good book and a glass of wine. You’ve always
wanted a fireplace. You’ve even entertained a
few romantic thoughts of cuddling before a fire
with someone special.
Unpacking your belongings you are excited at the
prospect of building your first fire in the
fireplace tonight. Looking at the fireplace you
notice it does have a fireplace screen. Good,
this will prevent sparks from leaving the
fireplace and setting the room ablaze. You do
want a few handy tools to make using and caring
for your fireplace easier.
There are so many fireplace tools to choose from
that it can be hard to stick with your budget.
However, only a few handy tools are considered
necessary when it comes to building fires in
your fireplace, and to help make cleanups
painless. You can always add to the tools you
have for your fireplace later on.
You will want a log holder to hold several logs
so you can grab one to keep the fire going and
to keep wood shavings from falling on the floor.
There are many styles of log holders and most
are reasonable priced. Not as pretty, but a
sturdy box can be used in place of a log holder
if your budget is really tight.
Tongs are a must as you use these to reposition
burning logs. You should never attempt to move a
burning log with other items not intended for
fireplace use. The temperatures are extremely
high in burning logs and items not made to
endure such high temperatures could fail and
cause serious injury.
A poker is another handy fireplace tool to have.
Use this metal stick to poke holes for oxygen to
enter while the log is burning to increase the
fire.
A fireplace broom or rake and a dustpan are
especially handy for cleaning your fireplace.
These help make the task of cleaning out the
ashes of your last fire a breeze. There are many
other fireplace tools that help to make cleaning
a fireplace much easier. Keep them in mind for
future purchases.
Now that you have these few handy tools, it is
time to light a fire in the fireplace, sit back,
and just enjoy!
