Antique Fireplace Tools

Antiques look beautiful in any house, and they always look so natural when surrounding a fireplace.

The fireplace, after all, has been a source of heat and light in homes for centuries. Antique fireplace tools, then, are the perfect addition to your décor, and can be just as functional as they are beautiful. There are some that will just look pretty (like an antique coal box) unless you choose to find new functions for them, but they have a way of softening a room and charming the eyes.

Check with the dealer to make sure that they are still strong, even if they are warped a little.

Before you install your log holders, take the time to clean out your fireplace using your brand new (well, new to you) brush and shovel. There are many styles of fireplace tool sets available with everyone from jesters to knights holding your tools for your use. If you prefer, there are also simple stands to hold your tools up off the floor to keep your area clean and your tools safe and undamaged.

Once you get the logs into your andiron and a blazing fire is warming your home, poke and turn the logs to get the fire into the perfect position with your poker and tongs. These also come with the tool sets, completing your collection of fire tools.
Of course, there are other types of antique tools out there, from screens to actual wood burning stoves. You may have an idea of exactly what you want, or you may find that you become antique crazy after you take a look at what your local dealer has to offer. The only guarantee is that you will love the look of your new antique tools in your home.
